Matrix - 1 L

Seachem Matrix Bio-Media is a professional grade high porosity biomedia designed to provide efficient biofiltration specifically for the targeted removal of nitrogenous waste in both freshwater and marine aquariums. This high capacity biofiltration helps to control harmful compounds in your aquarium such as ammonia, nitrate and nitrite, effectively keeping these elements at safe levels as to not harm the aquatic inhabitants of your tank.

The media is an inorganic solid approximately 10 mm in diameter and boasts an exceptionally large surface area, with each liter of Seachem Matrix Bio-Media providing as much surface area (<162 m) as 40 liters of plastic balls! The difference in efficacy and space saving ability will make your head spin! As well, many plastic bio-materials only provide an external surface area for bacteria cultivation, whereas this media offers a spacious internal macroporous surface area with macropores that are the optimal size to support beneficial nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria. Unlike other common forms of biomedia, this allows Seachem Matrix Bio-Media to easily remove nitrate along with ammonia and nitrite, simultaneously and in the same filter for a more efficient and effective process.

The media is completely inert and will not breakdown, nor does it need to be replaced. It is also compatible with nearly every type of wet and wet-dry filters. Comes in a 1 liter container.

Directions:

Use 250 mL of Seachem Matrix for each 200 L (50 US gallons) of aquarium water. The media may be placed in any kind of filter, and is noticeably effective when used in a canister filter. The media is sufficiently large enough that no filter bag should be required for most applications. It works quite well in a variety of drip tray systems, but may find that the larger Seachem Pond Matrix is better suited for such applications.
